Hi all, EX 1200gs owner.
New (to me) 2010 650gs twin 25k owner and looking at owners reviews a few have mentioned using 15w50 oil.
Mine is due a change and has a full BMW dealer history but was wondering what is the benefits of thicker oil in the UK.
I'm always up on good reviews/reasons.
I plan to make this an all year all roads bike.

Cheers

Can't vouch for the F650GS but my old air/oil cooled 1200 engines all ran much sweeter and quieter on hot summer days with 15/50 or 20/50 oil. Even so, get caught say in a French city in rush hour and it would still rattle like a bag of spanners.

As an early adopter, my first 2004 R1200GS used to have a flickering oil light at idle in summer traffic using 10W/40 until I flagged it up with my dealer and they changed the spec to thicker oil which cured it.

If your owners manual states that a 15W/50 is compatible, why not try running it and see how you get on ?
