2018 GS TFT screen rev counter

Was out at weekend on the bike and noticed the red line on the TFT screen only moved up to 6000 revs when the bike was at running temperature.
The red line then fluctuated between 6000rpm and 9000rpm.
Normally once up to temperature the red line is on 9000 rpm.
I’ve been doing some research on forums but can’t find any thing to do with rev counter.
Oil and water levels are fine and the bike runs as it should.
I was thinking maybe a sensor has gone faulty.

Might be worth setting your display to the live data stub under "my vehicle" it shows the engine temperature there and if it is fluctuating that should confirm if there is an issue, unfortunate that you appear to lose the revcounter in that display setup as you could cross reference for confirmation. Sounds like it may well be a sensor but probably worth also checking wiring and connector in case there is something loose/damaged as that could change resistance which is often how the likes of temp sensors feed back to the ECU (but will confess I'm not completely au fait with BMW systems as yet )
