The Side Stand

Another day and I find another bloody item broken from the Morocco trip.

The side stand is missing one of the lugs and one of the springs attached to this is missing.

What difference does running one spring do?

Or do I need a new side stand as well?

Got no experience with this, but I just had a look at mine:

The spring closest to the frame appears to be doing all the work until the stand is in it's fully extended (ready to stand the bike) position...

I would say that the "inner" spring (closest to the frame) is doing most of the work to keep the stand tight to the frame whilst riding, and the "outer" spring, is only extended when stand is extended...thus helping keep it from springing back towards the bike, when lifted upright...I am only talking about1-2 mm difference in length of the springs, whilst the stand is in the "in beween" position, and they are equal when stand is extended..

I would say that the "inner" spring is more important of the two...although I really don't know if it makes a toss of difference!

How did you get your bike back...did you have to fetch it yourself, or was it transported to you?

Cheers

Ian
