I bought the non esa gs wc with the intention of fitting better suspension,
Now at the time to decide,
Ohlins do fully adjustable ttx front and rear,
Wilbers only offer the economy front shock in non ESA, confirmed by revs,
The esa option has full adjustment and the front for the twincam also,
I am swaying to the ohlins,
Has anyone ant experience of non ESA on either manufacturer on a wc bike

a TTX installation will cost a fair bit - no?

I'd be happy with a Wilbers non-ESA combo, with rear remote preload. It will be an improvement on BMW ESA.

I have full front and back TTX setup on my non-ESA water GS.

the ride is sublime. Very very stable when riding at high speeds in the curves. The stock suspension was too softly sprung and the damping was only adequate (ie , you'll reach its limits quickly on a fast B road ride , rear wallowing etc).

with the Ohlins , as you dail in the throttle past apex , the rear just soaks up the power and launches the bike out. No wallowing , no hesitation.

But the front (esp) is sensitive to spring selection. Make SURE you get one which is appropriate for your weight.

good luck.

BTW : the setup for the K50 is :

R1200GS K5 13-14 (Front) BM147 (TTX36)

R1200GS K5 13-14 (Rear) BM146 (TTX39)

This is the set up I was looking at, and how I find the stock suspension,
Thanks for sharing your experience,
It seems Wilbers have got the esa sorted at the expense of offering an equivalent adjust line shock which is probably more popular and justifies development,

The ttx ohlins is Approx £500 more than the Wilbers with the economy front and full adjust rear, but only £200 if the full spec front was a wc option using the tc price as a guide,
I was led to believe type approval and development cost has caused a change to what Wilbers offer, esa wlibers are popular so that's where they are investing,,
The prospect of spending £ 1400 on a less adjustable set up goes away from the idea for me ,

I get the impression that the front shock is not so influential as the rear. I'd go for the Ohlins setup, or a non ESA Wilbers installation.

Thanks for the input guys,
The whole idea was to go fully adjustable, and of the two manufacturers only ohlins do on non esa, pity as Wilbers seem good,
Wilbers have got the esa well sorted unlike ohlins,
So if it helps anyone else I got a pair of ohlins ttx from KGL in France,
They are the BM 146 and BM 147 , sprung to my weight and delivered to me,
For £ 1650, against £1960 in the uk plus fitting and extra spring if outside the standard 80-85 kgs,
I will post up how they perform , I allready have 2500 miles on the standard suspension,,
