Oil-Engine and Gearbox

Sorry guys i know this has been done to death...:blast
What do you recommend for the gearbox...is it worth using fully synth in there? Regarding engine oil i can get Castrol semi synth 10/40 from work cheap do you think that would be ok for the job?
