Thought you might like to see some pics of my recent family holiday to Canada. Unfortunately It wasn't a bike trip this time but I most definetly will be going back by bike someday.

Flew into Calgary and spent 10 days in and around Banff and lake Louise area. We then rented an RV for 10 days and did a loop West through the Rockies along the Trans-Canadian highway 1 to Fraiser canyon. Then back East to Waterton via Highway 3 which runs along the Canadian / American border. From Waterton it was north back to Calgary, a total of about 1,600 miles.

Spotted a number of GS's on the road. They appeared to be the second most common bike after Harleys. Perfect GS roads are everywhere with a lot of gravelled roads going into the mountains that are listed on the maps as main trunk routes.

The RV was a Ford E450 with an 8 litre V10 engine. Fuel consumption averaged 8 miles to the gallon :eek . Fuel was around £2.00 a gallon. The biggest shock was how little power the thing had. It was down to 20 mph along a lot of the mountain passes. No wonder people hate the things!

Anyway here's the pics. Around 20 of 400 I took on the whole trip. Hope you like em.

I was there last year for a few days. What a beautiful place. It is almost beyond description. The water in Lake Louise is sooooo green. I WILL go back again

Went onto the glacier by foot. The trucks looked interesting but seemed a bit of a gimic, and you didnt appear to see much more than if you walked.

Might take a guided hike up over the top to view the 35 square miles of glacier next time.
