I have made a few enquiries about this type of set up and was told that a camcorder and dogcam is a better way to go, this is because the hard drive in mp4 player can jump if it gets knocked... i'm not sure though......

any help would be appreciated.

we tried one of those on a race bike . results were very poor even although we had it wrapped in foam, went to mini DV cam and bullet that was much better, IMO go for mini DV with AV input.

A race bike would have have loads of vibrations compared to a GS... I had an archos which i fitted to a mates Gsxr600 bike for a practise day and it worked fine but i only run it for 6 laps :)

The archos always worked fine playing Mp3s on the bike no matter where i placed it. I sold it to Whatton.. the only reason i sold it was I got a Tapwave that takes SD cards and plays games too and i never need more than a gigs worth of music on a trip. So i didn't need both. :)
You could always stick the Archos in a jacket pocket which would reduce the fast vibration even further, thats if you have the camera helmet mounted ;)

I do agree that a Mini dv would be better under Very harsh conditions but the archos should be fine for most GS endeavours :)

we couldnt get anything worthy of watching on ours , bike was a CBr600rr unit was mounted in a foam box on top of the tank, one tip is make sure whatever you do use is well mounted because our video camera fell of during practice and the clerk of the course was not amused, amazingly it still worked after its 70 mph tumble up the track.

Saw these on the news last night, they have just been issued to community support officers to wear whilst on duty, to gather evidence etc.

Much, much cheaper than a proper copper :mmmm
