Show us your Classic M/C

PS When the anoraks tell me what is wrong about my bike I just tell them it's mine and I can do what I like (especially after 32 years of ownership)!!! :rob (This is not intentioned for Smeggy)! :thumb2

PPS Who the feck are the Classic Jap brigade? ;)

True. I was told that my Kettle had the wrong colour sidepanels, it has, and that the front mudguard is wrong, it isn't. But who cares?

It has black unpainted sidepanels as they get worn when my period 1970's Swagman panniers rub the back of them and it wears the paint off.

It is fitted with an 'A' model front guard and as it is an 'A' model.... although in this pic it has 'B' model guard fitted.

;)

81 RT fitted with an S fairing untill I can be arsed to sort the original fairing out. It's only done 31k and had stood for ten years. I bought it on Ebay for £450 and originally bought it to put the engine in my 80 G/s - it was too much for the 80s chassis so I then spent £1200 rebuilding it. It's a lovely bike to ride and is suprisingly quick for an R100.

keep em coming great thread this.. makes me wanna buy an old mans bike now!

Spent today working on my old girl (see previous pic of R90S). Transmission is back in now (fingers crossed it now finds all gears!) and air filter housing back on. Just need to change bearings in swing arm and she'll be close to being back on the road (she needs miles as the old girl has only covered 23k in her 32 year life to date).

Last major job will be servicing the 38mm Dell'Orto carbs. They look like they haven't been touched in 32 years!, so rather than tackle myself I'm planning on farming the task out to a specialist for a full strip and clean. Does anyone know of a Dell'Orto servicing/reconditioning specialist in the UK?

For the anoraks, please note the Non Standard Blue tall screen, the Radial Tyres and the White power rear shock...:D there are two others that I will leave for said anorak to point out...;)

I've just bought a second example out of the 150 officially imported into the UK....as a wee bonus, it came with two boxed brand new Silencers that are harder to find than rocking horse poo...result :thumb

Rear luggage shelf wasn't standard?
Standard fork leg lowers were originally black not gold?
Non standard front fender extender?

Not bad.. 2 out of three...

The Forks were indeed gold in the UK....Black as American spec with side amber reflectors, they had silver wheels too...:barf ......;)

Great job and he loves R90s's :):thumb2 :rob :D

Bought her new in 1975. Sold my 1973 Commando to this guy on the condition we ride up to Reading on it to fetch the new bike and do the deal there. It pissed down with rain all the way there and back and I was terrified as I had concerns about the Jap rubber tyres on the Z1 - the Norton had Avons on it. Approaching a sharp right bend near Somerton on the way back the poor fella who'd bought the Norton off me lost the back end and down he went. Up to now the Commando had never been dropped and was pristine. Fortunately the damage was limited to a snapped footrest. I kept the original tyres until they wore out - they weren't as bad as most reports made out.

Other bikes have come and gone but 'Humbug' still remains.
