Cafes, coffee stops and favourite greasy spoons in the North West

There's a good brew stop in the Trough of Bowland on the main Trough road by Langden (about 2 miles past Dunsop Bridge). New chap has the van and its spot on - worth a trip if you've not been through the Trough !

I'll second that! Great route thro there, right to Caton, the Bridge etc etc......that route is spot on :thumb2

Hark T'Bounty - Slaidburn

This pub is really nice- just up the road from the cafe in Slaidburn.

They do a Sunday roast lunch offer - two for £15 including soup starters.

Everytime I have left I have been completely stuffed.

ROSE GARTH TEA ROOM AT RAVENGLASS(CUMBRIA):tarka

Perfect spot to unwind after some of the best roads in England, and great views and food too !(Local bikers know this well, with Hardknott not far away)
:thumb :thumb:tarka

Good Brew stops

I can second the Naked Man Cafe in Settle town centre, good cakes too!

My fav stop in Hawes is the Pen-e-garth (dunno if that's spelt right!) Cafe and that can be before or after a double burger at Devil's Bridge - Kirkby Lonsdale.

At the mo, I'm on a yellow 56 GS but that will change colour over the winter... just unsure what colour to paint it. Dakar? Motorsport/30th anniversary? Summat else?

The Filling Station Cafe, Keswick

There's a new bike friendly cafe opening in Keswick, The Filling Station Cafe.

Opens 3rd Dec, there's an article in Motorcycle Monthly and they've got a facebook page.

Probably worth a run up to check it out.

Visited a few on a recent trip up and across the Dales, all good except the "Penny Garth" in Hawes. The worst coffee of our trip by a good few country miles...

The really good :-

Meadowside Cafe, Dent (park in car park just up road and walk to it)

Manor Cafe, Leyburn (proper biker cafe and getting very popular)

Abbey Tea Rooms, near Bolton Abbey

The cafe in Slaidburn next to the car park - it's a one street village on the B6478 betwenn Gisburn and the Trough of Bowland in Lancashire - the best bacon buttie in the North :thumb2

Went here yesterday for the first time, nice little cafe and a good bacon buttie. Some great surrounding roads to check out and wonderful scenery.

Had anyone tried the Fishery Cafe opposite the services on the A59 near McDonalds, great service and prices, been going there for a couple of years now. Great for a full breakfast on a Sunday morning before a ride around the Yorkshire hills

The filling station Keswick

Full english, a "pint" yes I said a pint of coffee, scenic and a free copy of MCN
to read while you eat, busy at weekends so get there early like me!

The Sundial, Low Bentham

A great cafe/pub/snug. Alex is a welcoming host and her cooking is simple, healthy and very tasty. Log fire, local produce, great coffee and guest beers on tap. What more could you ask? Ok, great roads.... Of which there are PLENTY in the area.

Try it, you won't be disappointed. In Low Bentham on the road to Burton.

V. Curious where you live now as that's a regular circuit for me when at my home in cheshire.

I live in Warrington mate, but my parents live in Telford so I am out and about most Sunday's around that neck of the woods and drop in to see my mum or dad for a brew before heading home
