Joe, just starting a rumour that Euan McGregor is to play you in the film of the book.
Bit of a re-write needed to to include Charley Boring in the role of your trusty companion.

Well lads n ladies,
left Coonoor a few days back, cant belive how many friends i made there
a really great place to visit or even live, Norman Wood who is Philip Wood's
son really looked after me was invited to the Coonoor Club for G n T's at
11am  and then some lunch, there was me sitting with retired Major's
, Air Commanders, Tea Plantation Owners and the like, tellin me wee tales of
travels :D

There is so much that has happened I will let the video tell the rest, but I
did call and see Mayberne again before i left to thank him and also to give
him a copy of my old foto's. He was over the moon as a few years back he
was robbed and all his old foto's where taken.

I left Coonoor and headed to Otty and then to a back road north, I stopped
of at a wee village for water and the next thing I have a crowd round me with a newspaper, sure wasnt i in the Tamil news as well this time with a foto, I then was asked to sign a few copies of the paper, Bono eat your
heart out :D:D:D

Such a big bike

Jo,
Looks like you're still living the dream.
WOW even got your pic in the local rag.
For me the ride from Nepal home on my little 135cc seems like a dream
16th months of travels all compressed into what seems like a weekend.
Same job, same desk, same people.
Dreaming of Argentenia and Peru and Chilli.
I think we need a couple beers when you get back so you can lend me some advise.
be safe and be as good as you can
Craig

Admiration

Joe

I'll never do what you have done and I really admire you for actually getting off your backside and doing something most of us only dream about. Well done.

Good luck and stay safe. :)

Phil

Thanks for the replies lads :thumb2
Have not read this wee thread in a while, and its just
brought back to me all the emotions i felt that first day
i walked into Mayberne's home. Just a wee update Rhoda (me gran)
and Beryle (maybern's sister grans best friend) are now back in contact
after over 60 years, every other Sunday the whole family get together
and read gran emails from Beryle (who now lives in Oz).
I will speak to the TV company and see if its OK to post Mayberne's
message I recorded the first time we met.
Thanks again
joe
