Just like Cabs and Buses,you wait for ages for a Megamoto Thread then get 2 in a week !!
Got mine delivered Today (The GS was not insured so had to be collected). Sorted Paperwork out,helped Van Driver load the GS,then got the Camera out;
I'd had the Carbon Fibre Engine front cover added to the Spec,CF Rocker Shrouds too,but the fixing bolts are on Back Order from Germany,so not fitted.CF Handguards were ordered but there is an issue with availability of Mounting Brackets,so not fitted. A CF Rear Hugger was tried but would not fit due to the very nice Dustbin Sized Akropovic Silencer.I've tried EVERYWHERE for a replacement Exhaust,but there is not one available :(.

True to form,i got into the House to get Kitted up,and it started Raining :mad:
I waited for it to stop and then gave it a couple of hours to dry off.Say what you like,i've heard it all before,but i don't see the joy in going out and getting wet through when there is no need to. I'd ridden one of the BMWUK Press Bikes when they were made available as Demonstrators last August,so knew what to expect.
Right from the Off and using no more than 4000rpm,i could feel the difference in Power and Torque over the GS (the MM is a LOT lighter and this will have helped too). The Motor spins up quicker,the Handling is sharper,the Gear Change is Positive,the Image in the Mirrors stays sharp, all in all this is a VERY NICE Package,albeit a VERY TALL one (31" Inside Leg and i can't get both feet down flat) .
I went up to Pidcocks,just to make sure i'd done the Paperwork OK,then headed East,as that was where the Sun was !!
A6/A6006 >Melton,B676/A151 >Bourne>Spalding>Holbeach,A17>Long Sutton(Filled up here,120 Miles)>Kings Lynn,A47>Wisbech>Peterborough>Leicester> Hinckley,A5>Atherstone>Tamworth.
Pulled up with Fuel light telling me i'd enough juice for another 33 Miles and 235 Miles on the Clock.

Overall,i'm very pleased,but i knew what i was buying.I looked at a deal after the Test Ride last year,but the figures were too salty.9 Months on and i got a better Deal than was offered before (BMWUK must have a few lying around). Last year,i felt that the MM was a very focussed bike and that my GS1200 was a better all rounder.This is still the case,but i've looked at what i do with my Bikes and feel that the GS was wasted with me,capable of a lot more than i was ever going to use it for.I don't Tour,or Camp and think that the MM will be better suited to my needs.
Downsides ? The "Toolkit" is an insult,nowhere near as good as the one supplied with the HP2 Sport (not that i'd know how to use it,but it might be needed some day),the Seat is an instrument of Torture and Tank range is likely to be less than 100 Miles once the Motor loosens off and the Performance gets used,but the Bike isn't a Tourer so C'est la vie.

So what next ? I''ll be out on Saturday/Sunday to get the Mileage up over 600. I have the 1st Service Booked for next Monday !! Then it will be easing past the 1000 Mile Mark and then a proper try out at the TT :thumb2 Dave.

Looks bloody loverly but I have to ask the question, what is its purpose ?

I'm guessing Mottorrad built it because they could. It goes in the same niche as the Ducati Hypermotard, Aprillia Dosorduro and KTM 990 SM (although the KTM is a bigger production batch). It was a logical addition,given the HP2Enduro gets Supermoto Wheels as an Option. In reality,it is a Limited Edition Road Bike,like the HP2 Sport but aimed at a different Customer.

The thing that impressed me most, when I rode one, was the brick-wall brakes. At the time, I didn't think it was much, if any, quicker than my GS with its full Remus system. It was, however, on greasy roads and I was being circumspect with the application of the throttle.

I still don't see it's purpose other than a beautiful ( don't get me wrong it's luverly ) styling excercise. "Niche" I think is confused with fashion or trend...... I must be getting old....:rob

235 miles! How big is the tank on it? All of a sudden it is very tempting. Mine showed 0 miles left with 103 miles done yesterday and even ridden :rolleyes: nicely 130 miles is a mission

TBH i'm expecting the same once the Bike is Run-In. Home to Refill was about 116 Miles and from refill to home 119 with 35 miles worth left. Mind you,the seat makes a fuel stop a joy rather than an annoyance. But,it's a Horse for a Course.

Whats the purpose of a GS??? Whats the purpose of a Fireblade??? in fact whats the purpose of a Ford Escort??? wher do you stop.....

I can't imagine many bikes that would give the thrill of a Megamoto on a nice sunny day and to boot it looks absolutely superb. If I was the Sulatan of Brunei I would have one in my garage along with a lot more but I'm confident I would be reaching for the keys to that one on a regular basis.

I've only ever seen 1 on the road and that was last year in Switzerland and to be honest I don't recall it looking as tastey as yours which is credit to you pics....... Hopefully a few more people will get them so they keep making niche bikes instead of everyone on the same thing:thumb2

Have Fun on it...

PS - Just noticed the wee fella on the tank... :)

HMM,the Brakes ARE good. It will probably be slightly quicker,Top End,but not for long, with no Screen.

To place a huge grin on ones face of course and I'm more than sure it will do just that.
As already said; what is the point of a fireblade etc etc. But to me the biggest advantage this bike has over my GS is it's not pig ugly :hide . My opinion and I'm entitled to it. My wife always looks at my GS and asks why do I want that thing when there are so many much nicer looking bikes out there.
My only question Dave is can I have a go... PLEASE, pretty please.
It's a thing of beauty, hope it brings you lots of fun as I'm sure it will.
Chris.

Nice bike, I like that :thumb2

That can is a big bugger though :D:D

They are gorgeous bikes.

Does anybody know how many have been sold ?

I've never seen one anywhere,either on my limited travels in UK,or more widespread in europe,inc 3 visits to Germany in last 12 months.

Surely there must be a few sitting unsold with deals going ?

Ta. No Aftermarket Exhaust available so i'm stuck with the OE System :(

I've not seenanother one but i seem to remember Daedalus having one and now KarlP. I got a better deal offered to do this deal than i got offered 12 Months ago when i first enquired and had the same deal as before offered 9 Months ago after i rode a Demo Bike. Dealers should not be holding unsold Bikes as they were only supposed to be sent to Dealers with a definite order. It's always worth asking,but believe me,you really must want one for what it is, to get one

Chris,you never know

UPDATE;

Mileage now at 502. Didn't get out as early as i would have liked so took off to Tour the Peak District. Stuck to the "Tried and Tested Usuals" ;
From Tamworth,A513>King's BromleyA515>Ashbourne,Buxton,A537 Cat and Fiddle>Macclesfield and back,A54>A523 X Roads and back,A5004>Whaley Bridge,A6>New Mills,A6075/A624>Glossop,A57 Snake Pass>Outskirts of Sheffield and Back to Glossop,A624>Chapel-en-le-Frith,A6>Buxton/Bakewell/Matlock/Cromford,B5035>Carsington/Ashbourne,A515>A513>Home.

Enjoyable outing,compromised by the need to do the Mileage.Traffic not too bad,no Police Presence anywhere,quite a few Bikes out.I'll do a bit more Tomorrow then 1st Service on Monday.

Nothing further to add about the Bike. Handling is sweet,Brakes bedding-in nicely,Engine getting stronger( 4000 prm limit).

I'm a really Happy Tosser :D!! So bad luck,all you lurkers who were hoping for a 2nd Hand bargain. :augie

UPDATE;

Back from Pidcocks this evening after leaving the MM there 1st thing this Morning. Service carried out with Mileage showing 606. Routine Oil/Filter change and check over as per Schedule. Nothing reported. Revs can now be gradually increased to 8000 prm Redline over the next 400 miles and then BANZAI !!! Or the German equivalent.:rolleyes:

Get a Remus Hexacone for the HP2 Enduro... AFAIK tell the only difference is that the Akra exhaust on the MM has a very short bolt where the mufler fits to the rear sub frame so you'll need to get the bolt for the enduro to make it fit. Otherwise you're good to go.

Also the Remus is all Stainless so you get rid of those silly crome headers.

Cheers Jarv,I had a feeling that this would be the case but there seems to be a conspiracy between BMW/Akropovic/Remus as every supplier i have asked about this fitment trots out the "No listing for Megamoto" Mantra .I'll be getting on the case ASAP.:thumb
