2RTW Podcast 1 - Lisa's first ride post surgery. Heading East in the USA

well, at long last we're getting up to date with the diary, yeah, yeah, I still have to get it up online. In the mean time we've wangled some fancy movie software (that we have no idea how to really use) and we've started to put together some 'podcasts' and we thought we'd put them up here and share.:clap

Nothing better than watching bikes travel abroad whilst your stuck in an office sorting through 300 crappy emails and generally having a bad day:augie

Let us know what you think good and bad.

here ya' go:

2RTW Podcast 3 - Tornadoes and Motorbikes don't mix

We're heading East and luckily stopped at a truck stop for a break and picked up a TV broadcast of a 'severe Weather Warning'. The skies looks ominous ans so we changed our plan to camp ans stayed at a local hotel outside of Omaha (Tornado Alley). Our guardian angel is still working hard. 4 cub scouts were killed and another 48 injured just 6 miles north of where we'd planned to camp this night.

We did our best to video some of what was going on but being locked in a toilet for two hours has it's limitations:D

2RTW Podcast 4 - Riding through Iowa's 500-year Flood.

'Oh c'mon...we're now feeling like the riders of the apocalypse'!!!! What next a plague of freakin' locust?

We'd managed to get out of Omoha and headed over to Iowa City to Gina's BMW where we'd agreed to show our presentation.

Sounds simple enough! What we hadn't planned on was having to ride through what Iowa inhabitants are now calling 'The 500-Year Flood'. The devestation was incredible. Here you go:

What went on in the Amazon

Evening all,

It's been a full day. We're currently in New Jersey after being invited by BMW North America to meet up with their executive and show our presentation. Things went really well and we've had an offer that BMW will sponsor us with a rebuild of both bikes prior to our shipping out to Siberia and Mongolia. Yeah, that really hasn't sunk in yet. We're too tired!

Anyway, whilst trawling through our video footage we re-found some footage that hadn't seen the light of day for a while and so at 2:30am this morning I was finishing off editing it into something that was worth watching.

The piece to camera was originally shot for my parents after a few really tough days...just in case things got worse.

Let us know what you think.

Hi Simon (& Lisa),

Great video :thumb2 but longer would be better to give us a chance to have a proper look at you and the bike etc.

Regards,

Mike ( from Mike & John)

p.s. You ain't missin' anything back here guys ! :blast

Hi Mike,

Too be honest we'd love to have more video etc but after the accident we were just focused on getting the hell out of there and surviving. And so of course we didn't really take much video. Wish we had taken more but that's only with hindsight.

How are you doing? What are you doing?

Take care, talk soon
Simon

Hi Simon,

Of course. I wondered if you'd just put some snippets in to test the water so-to-speak. To be honest, I was surprised to see that you had any 'footage' at all.

I'm currently outside Stirling in Scotland just finishing a tour of the UK in a caravan  (to wind back down and to be used to being in the UK again...which was strange for a while.) and about to decide my next steps.

Probably work for a while :blast  :tears , but I'll see ! :eyebrow

Please say hi to Lisa.

Regards,

Mike

Heeeeyyyyy Simon and Lisa - peace and love, peace and love:D Good to hear from you guys again - what a story, what a trip - take care out there:thumb

2RTW Podcast 6 - Riding South in Mexico

Evening all,

this is the first internet we've had for a while. We've been in Mexico for about 10 days and have just put this video together of some of the riding from the first few days.

After being in the USA for over a year we had to quickly adjust to the 'driving style' in Mexico. You simply have to watch your ass every second you on the bike. Rules??? There aren't any! Trucks, cars, SUV's, dogs and donkey's at some point their all going to try to kill you.

Funny thing we love it. At the end of each day, your tired, dusty, gritty, sweaty and wearing a smile that you've survived another day of road, dirt and a million topas...(bloody great bumps in the road, designed to slow you down.

Hope you enjoy.

Cheers
Simon & Lisa

2RTW podcast 7 - into Japan

Well, our time in the USA is at an end and we managed to make some great friends as we traveled through 47 of the states. It seems to have taken an age, but the USA has been very good to us. We ended up running our presentation 36 times and loved every show.

We've spent the last 12-weeks completely overhauling the bikes with the generous support of BMW Motorrad USA. New engines, transmissions, etc, etc. The bikes are looking and feeling great. Touratech have been brilliant and so we also have new panniers and a host of other sparkly cool bits.

We arrived in Japan two days ago and spent yesterday getting our paperwork in order and carnet authenticated by JAF, Japan version of the RAC. We'll head to the airport and tomorrow and clear the bikes through customs. We then have 3-weeks to explore this amazing country before we take the ferry to Vladivostok and then head west into Mongolia.

Here's a short vid' of our travels into Japan. More to come soon.

All the best
Simon & Lisa

2RTW podcast 8 - uncrateing our bikes and clearing Japanese customs

With confirmation finally recieved that the bikes were on the ground, we headed back across Tokyo to clear the bikes through customs and then uncrate the bikes.

A long but good day.

Enjoy.

Simon & Lisa

Glad to hear that you are reunited with the bike's,look forward to reading of your travels in Japan

Hi thanks shultz,

things got slightly manic our end and so we've not been posting as much as we'd wanted.

Right now we're getting things sorted and catching up on diary and web stuff. I've just uploaded 7 pages of new USA diary and we'll also be uploading our Mexico diary and of course Japan.

I'm not sure if you guys know of this gear...Kermit chairs. I put a video together by way of a thank you to the owner of the firm who'd sponsored us with a couple of chairs. We initially thought we were'nt going to carry them...too much of a luxury and all, but after using them for a few month sin Mexico, their now considered essential.

Let us know what you think, I don't even know if you can get them in the UK?

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0R1JIEJ7ecM&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0R1JIEJ7ecM&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I'll post the next Japan podcast video in the next few days.

Cheers for now
Simon
