Get a spring puller, try tooledup, good for tools
Perseverance, failing that squeeze the ends together in a vice and put a cable tie round the arms of the spring

It's a case of squeezing (while swearing a lot) rather than pulling with these springs.
did you get the migsel springs too ?
I bought the Migsel springs but had to grind the ends down as they were too long for the hole in the footpeg bracket. Easy enough after that.

I seem to remember a combination of screwdriver, molegrips and hammer did the trick, good luck 
I wasted an hour or two this afternoon trying to fit a pair of these - twatting things
