Michelle and her step siss making their way down the 19 kilometer gravel road...<br><p>
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_3.jpg"></img><br><P>
Saw only two bikes going down this road and both 650's<br><p>
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_4.jpg"></img><br><P>
I managed to overtake the girlie rider a few minutes later on the downhill as they were taking it very easy down the slippery road.<br><p>

The turnoff to the Hell, went there last year and 50 km's of the most spectacular gravel and scenery I have seen. This is the only road in and the only one out.<br><p>

The girls beating me on the uphill and getting well ahead of me, London sure does not keep you fit!!<br><p>
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_7.jpg"></img><br><P>
At least after every climb there is a downhill I could catch them as my featherweight body mass helped along the momentum.
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_8.jpg"></img><br><P>
It just goes on for ever and thankfull it was mostly downhill as the heat was already around 29 celcuis at 8:30 in the morning.
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_9.jpg"></img><br><P>
Looking back at the switchbacks and wondering how nice that would of been on my GS!!<br><p>
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_10.jpg"></img>
The bottom of the pass and my arms were knackered holding onto the bars and grabbing a handfull of brakes every now and again.
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_12.jpg"></img><br><P>
We left the main road and took a small back track through the veld<br><p>
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_17.jpg"></img><br><P>
Having a quick rest in the lei water(water channel) and splash to get rid of the sweat and dust of the pass.
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_15.jpg"></img><br><P>
Not exactly a ford neither a GS but was still great fun.
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_16.jpg"></img><br><P>
The last few km's back to town to a well deserved breakfeast and beer.
<img src="http://www.maverick-evolution.150m.com/2004/vakansie/cycling/swartberg_mtb_18.jpg"></img><br><P>
