Paint jobs - Please take a look.

Again, never knew Chris personally I’m afraid.

But his passion about bikes was clear to see. You knew anything he was involved in was going to be a proper job and a good thread with pics.

Thoughts to his family and RIP chap.

Always loved to see his craft on this site, obviously a true artist and proud gent who was a pleasure for people to share company with RIP.

I just thought that I’d share pics of some work that Chris did for me on my Guzzis.
He was such a skilled craftsman and besides, I really looked forward to popping in and chatting.

Firstly side panels on the cafe racer. I’d said to Chris that I quite fancied a logo but really didn’t want anything too garish, he said that he had an idea in mind and if I’d leave it up to him. The more subtle the better he said. He had free reign.

The result was an absolutely perfect deep gloss black finish, but with a beautiful letter Z totally invisible unless you catch it in the sun or with a flash. Brilliant, it was ‘our secret’ well almost!

The other job shows the body work of my Le Mans 2 which he finished less than 2 weeks ago taking it back to the Black and Gold design that the Coburn and Hughes importers sold as a dealer special back in1980.

Both jobs are spectacular and shows his skill and care, a true craftsman. Matched only by his kindness courtesy and care. We will all be a lot worse off for his passing.

God bless you fella.

This isn't getting any easier.

I went into the garage for something yesterday and saw this.

I had a quiet moment and ran my hand over the perfectly smooth tank... no decals there, fella.

This from post 99 on this thread was the work Chris did on my Ducati - even more stunning in the flesh than the photos. Did some work on my airhead GS which is just as good. Proper Craftsman, great guy and a huge loss
Oh my this was a pleasure to do ........

Before Chris got into doing the paint jobs, he was doing auto electric work. I was trying to get my auxiliary lights and other sundry electrics to work. The weather was shit, December Cold and dark. I called him and got a very fair price for what seemed a simple job. I'd already bodged some of it! He arrived, parked up and worked way past what I expected a normal bloke to do. It was positivley bloody dark by the time he finished! He even used his spot off his 4 x 4, whilst lamenting his KTM! Although it was already 2pm when he arrived, instead of just fixing my wiring etc, he promptly stripped everything away, took off panels etc etc and re wired everything much neater. Such a professional approach and one that stands with me. Do a proper job once rather than a quick job twice. I was very much impressed with his work ethic and his approach to showing me how and what to do next etc. His dedication clearly transposed itself into his paint jobs. A true gent will be missed. RIP big fella

How cool is it to have created this body of work that Chris has left behind and will live on so to speak . When I go the only thing I will have created and left behind is my daughter Phoebe, currently aged 9. Maybe by then I’ll have some grandchildren I suppose, but that will be it.

I was also thinking is there any way Paul can make sure these pictures of his work stay permanently hosted on the site? Chris’s pictures seem to be hosted on Flickr and maybe his family won’t keep up the account in the distant future !?

Perhaps a honorary picture gallery of his fine finished works could be added onto the forum somewhere....

I had a few jobs done by Chris over the years and on one occasion I gave him a box of plastics and a full carbon front mudgaurd from my Ducati and told him to replicate the pikes peak, identically, he knew I'm a fussy fooker, he actually told me that however this is where his skill was really tested because the plastics were not masked up on the bike so he had to guess the lines, the end result was stunning the finish was like glass after several coats of Lacquer.

And yes, Chris hated the handlebars....to begin with. He got it though, it was my bike.

“In the scheme of the build...” was another often repeated statement when yet another part/modification or whatever was required. Happy days.

Very sad news I have been reading both threads and the many many posts in tribute.

Condolences to his family

They obviously grew on him. He showed me the bike as it is now, when I bought his KTM off him a few weeks ago. I commented on the handlebars which were hanging on the wall of his workshop (I hate them) and he said they were great. The bike looks beautiful now mind...with proper handlebars and all...

Ah so it was you who bought his 950 Adventure

When I was there a few weeks back he declined to say who had bought it, only that it was a UKGSer forum member and it was "up to them" if they wanted all in sundry to know :D
