Scotland's Route66.

As the SNP are a socialist party I find that a bit unlikely.
Do try and keep up.

That'll be about right then, sharing out someone else's money. Except in this case, it'll be motorcyclists. :D

Crackin' scenery, nonetheless.

I have spent a lot of time on the southern part of that route, Ullapool/Kylescue/Bonnar Bridge. It is amazing scenery. Just be careful of the Sika crossing the Bonnar Bridge Road at dawn and dusk either side of Rosehall. Could be very messy.

Does anyone know exactly where that first picture is. We are on the West coast in 4 weeks, have seen it before but unsure if it's on my route.

Cheers

Scotland's Route 66 ?

So it's a shite road that is un the bucket-list of bikermates with no idea and fuck all originality ?

Are the SNP going to charge a toll every 10 miles?

No they abolished the tolls set by Westminster in 2008 :flag
We are still trying to get £60 million back that went into someone’s back pocket re the Skye bridge.

This NC500 there is only one coast route so why so many threads on it :D

I'm sure The Bank of America will be sympathetic to your request for a refund from the £33 million that the consortium they fronted took in tolls:D

Hmmm. Not sure how we got from the NC500 to Skye Bridge Tolls! But for the sake of accuracy the tolls were abolished in 2004 by the Scottish Government....then a Lab/Lib coalition. An old, and now dead, friend, MSP John Farqhuar Munro(Lib) put relentless pressure on the Scottish Government and the Executive bought the bridge just before Christmas 2004.

The NC500 is really a victim of its own marketing! The road itself is for a large part, not really suitable for the traffic it has generated. Mobile homes, and groups of cars travelling together, driven by folk not used to single track roads are disaster!

Parts of the route as designated are, frankly, boring. Parts of it are stunning. I suppose living here I can cherry pick the best bits out of 'season' and miss the worst when its busy. But I can't see the point in rushing round in as short a time as possible. Sadly some of its features....The Applecross Inn for example..... are simply not worth bothering with any more.

2008 was the last of the Tolls in Scotland and correct regarding Skye in 2004 :thumb2
JF Munro was a big campaigner against the Island tax, “toll” along with civil disobedience that overwhelmed the courts.
He co-sponsored (along with the SNP’s Michael Russell) a bill to secure the Gaelic language's status as being equal to English.

He had a Mercedes 190e that he bought new with a deal that if it went round the clock Mercedes would replace it with a new car.
It went round the clock but he asked for it to be resprayed and new seats instead as he wanted to keep it.
I took all the glass out and refitted after the paint job at Murchisons garage in Kyle.
He wrote if off a few months later :(
