Is a standard R1150 g/s tank sufficient or is carrying spare fuel in a can necessary ?

It's a long way. I doubt that you'd get all the way on 22 litres.
Finding fuel stations isn't a problem. The only time we've used our spare fuel has been to help another motorcyclist. You might not have to be fussy about the grade though. No experience of Scandinavia, but some of the more remote fuel stations in Eastern Europe and Russia (particularly) often only have 80 and 92 octane.
It would be helpful if you fleshed out your intended route ....
Fuel stations in Scandinavia (Sweden, Denmark and Norway) sell civilised fuel, Finland, too.

And most of all 1150s tank is sufficient enough for Baltics.
