I don't know if was any of you guys but I was riding out of Llandovery towards Builth yesterday afternoon (Friday). I don't know the road that well so wasn't going quickly.

A chap on a 15 plate LC with panniers and topbox loomed large in my mirrors so I let him past and tagged onto him as he obviosly knew the road. Into Beulah and turned left over a brilliant rode I'd never been on before. I just followed him hoping he knew a good route and it was excellent. I peeled off at Llandrindrod Wells as he headed to Newtown.

All done at a spirited pace and I figured he knew I'd tagged onto him

If it was anyone on here, I'd just like to say thanks chap and the coffee is on me :thumb

Sums up the spirit of riding in so many ways:thumb

That'll be the B4358 to Newbridge on Wye. And its a little cracker, a few sneaky little corners to catch you out, especially coming the other way. Police use it on there bike ride out weekends :D

Did the B4518 out of Llandidloes yesterday. Now THAT is a cracking piece of road , the first five miles or so are such a roller coaster :thumb2

Try these roads from llandovery too....

I hope you turned left at Staylittle :bow towards Machynlleth Cracking road as you say!
Try the mountain road from Dinas Mawddwy to Lake Vyrnwy, if you like views and rollacoasters lol

Avoiding the 'A' roads in that region is great fun on a GS.

yep.. It also strategically avoids;

1. Other arseholes generally (either car or bike, especially Power-Rangers)
2. Arseholes trying to catch you speeding
3. Boring shit

Some lovely roads up there.

We should have a ride-out of discovery soon.

Haven't done Abergwesyn for a while.

Do it Paul. Haven't seen you for ages, always nice to have a bag of chips somewhere. Weekends are always full of family nowadays, so hopefully will be free.

That was it Allan. Really good road and it was great to follow someone who knew it well.

Whitchurch to Llandidloes pretty much all via B roads with a couple of unclassified roads thrown in for good measure. Then B4518 and some more unclassified. Went over some hills on a proper "lost road" to finally drop onto the a470 and then dropped into Bala do a ice cream by the lake.
Think I may have got nicked by the speed camera van on the way into Bala town though :(

Lots of Shropshire and parts of Wales we went thru were just devoid of any motor vehicles whatsoever until we hit the A470. :bounce1

did you peel off at Llandrindod due to having too ???? the road from there to Newtown is top drawer too,but can be heavily policed during bank hols

I'd be up for that. If this turns into anything, I'm officially inviting myself!:D

Keep me posted, please.:thumb

When we enter the Cambrian we always stay at the Drovers (b&b) in Llandovery. I didn't enter this year but came up with the blokes and three of us just went road riding. There are some corking roads over there (and yes Chris - we did that one north of Llandovery each morning to get to the Cambrian start ..).
Best few days road riding I've had in a long time ... :thumb2
