Thanks to a few people on here I assembled the bits and asked people way more qualified and competent to assemble/paint etc...After signing up for Bilco's Alaska and then Moab/Deserts jaunts I decided to give my young girl a treat - all working OK before but wanted to ensure as much as i can a trouble free trip....I feel myself lucky to own a R1150 GSA SE a few of you might know.. how we started wasn't bad IMHO...

But it went to Mikeyboy and I was horrified when he sent me this pic - if it was me - I would still be there on the floor picking bits up...<script async="" src="https://embedr.flickr.com/assets/embedr-loader.js"></script><script async="" src="https://embedr.flickr.com/assets/embedr-loader.js"></script><script async="" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>Thanks to NeilDD who supplied it and TunnerUK who painted it I now had a matt 41L tank..<script async="" src="https://embedr.flickr.com/assets/embedr-loader.js"></script><script async="" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>Obviously Tunner wasn't happy with Matt and now it's all shiny...<script async="" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>At this point I hassled Mike with various bargain bin items I have been acquiring.. Pivotpegz, fastaways, John's Stage 8 chip... Chris Shaw's stainless kit etc<script async="" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script><script async="" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script><iframe frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="flickr-embed-frame" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" width="600" height="800" data-natural-width="600" data-natural-height="800" style="overflow: hidden; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; width: 600px; height: 800px; max-width: none;" data-loaded="true"></iframe><script async="" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>I then hunted for some Moto GMT light mounts - wonderful things they are:

Only to be reminded they were already on - knew I'd read how good they were.. thanks Paul

I then was instructed to buy (by several people ahem!!) a Top of the Line headlight and grill guard

Many moons ago I bought from MikeO a cockpit trim - being a buffoon I stored it with my other "bits" and Chris painted this too (along with the beak) to match the tank

The ultra-observant will spot it on the bike...<script async="" src="https://widgets.flickr.com/embedr/embedr-77cdfbadde15654081e0143481c549e8.js"></script><script async="" src="https://embedr.flickr.com/assets/embedr-loader.js"></script><script async="" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

In addition to the minor stuff Mike has done like new tyres (K60 rear - TKC80 front), full service, clutch/gearbox/final drive overhaul.... He also fitted some tarmac melters for me...

Mike has fixed, fettled, farkled, powder coated and generally cosseted her with pixie dust :)

Thank you all

What's the odds I fall off before the trip now?

Very very nice, enjoy the trip(s); now where's that green smiley ...

Cheers sir - there wasn't anything wrong with it but I have decided I don't want another bike for this trip so spent lots of money on this instead :)

I can't get that to line up any better - I am obviously an IT buffoon too...

She looks smashing Peter. Have a great day tomorrow.

Where (if at all) did you fit the little led bullet lights?

If you wouldn't mind would you please take and post a couple of pictures of the fuel taps at the bottom of the tank lobes as they look different to mine, more discreet. Thanks. :thumb2

Hi Aidan
It's my old tank that I sold to Peter.
I put 90 deg fittings in with Beemer Boneyard QD's with the balance pipe running across the timing cover.
This allowed for easy syphoning of fuel for a stove if needed.

Hi Aidan

Thank you very much for that Neil. Mine has vertical taps on which drop down very close to the cylinders. Not ideal. When I see the pictures from Peter it should give me a good idea of how to amend them.

I'll take photos tomorrow Aidan ;)

Good man Peter. Thanks.

Lots more pics please Pete. Anyone who gets bored can unsubscribe!:D

This ^^^^^^

You're setting the bar pretty high for us SE owners with this one - I'm really interested in following your progress.

Just out of interest why did you go with shiny white instead of matt?

And where did you find those excellent Moto GMT mounts?!

More photos ...
