Was in the dealer on Saturday and saw one with the polished ally tank and akra pipe - looked stunning! :drool

How are they for tall riders ?? I wouldn't mind one as a second bike but I'm 6ft4 and 220 pounds.

Have you seen the Wunderlich tail tidy in the flesh? It's not all that pretty

Also the unit garage seat has a "beak" at the back of it, so may not fit with the Wumderlich tail today. (Without a lot of fiddling)

I had the unit garage brown leather seat, it was shit, didn't fit properly, leather rubbed on the subframe and the base was made out of recycled crisp packets.

Sent it back and have had my original recovered for £140 in leather look marine grade vinyl.

For the money, honestly mate, it was shockingly bad.

I had a go on one last week and rather liked it. The suspension seemed the (slightly) weak point to me, and I hear that people put ohlins on them.
Anyone with experience/thoughts on that?

I don't think the suspension is to bad, the front end is the S1000RR minus the adjustment, the back end can be tweaked to an acceptable level.

The Achilles heel IMHO as an owner, is that BMW fitted cheapo spoked / tubed wheels, so there is more to be gained, again IMHO by swapping to a set of Kineo's / Boriani's / Alpina's.

I'm saving for a set of Tubeless Alpina's, there's a fair few KG to be saved in unsprung weight then. Can't understand why BMW did that, unless they had a job lot of wheels on a shelf somewhere :)

I was cycling near Shere last Saturday and I crossed routes with one a few times.

I hadn't realised how pretty they are, and the one I saw made a fantastic noise - sounded really powerful without being noisy. I was impressed.

:thumb2:thumb2

I think they look fantastic, and if I could justify a third bike, would get one in a heartbeat. I daren't test ride one! Captain Slow was doing a deal on one when I popped into my dealer last week, and as an owner of over 30 bikes, he said it really got his attention since it was launched.

Thanks for the replies.

The bike is now at MCT for the Wilbers and I'm off to Italy on the GS, we will see how everything fits when we get back.....

Here's mine! Fairly standard except for the seat and no baffles in the exhaust...

Thanks for the comments.

Fitted the tail tidy before dropping the bike at MCT.

Everything else has now arrived and i will fit them when I get the bike back after Mugello.

The Unit seat looks good, the Unit Garage exhaust is just gorgeous.

Looking forward to a weekends spannering in two weeks time :)

Check the clearance on the seat, and the front fittings, seriously, looks great, I know 3 other people who had the same experience as me. The leather touches down on the cast subframe and one guy had the leather wear through in under two weeks use. Mine did not fit properly at the front either, they use a V shaped fork, to fit into a square section seat peg.

I had the unit garage low exhaust, the baffle was shonky, so I moved that on and went back to standard, also found out they are made by Arrow, so can be bought from them for £150 less than unit garage (The Low Exhaust I'm talking about)

Exhaust bracket is great though, but the rest of my unit garage stuff has very much been a mixed bag quality wise.

Looked great, but you can see some of the clearance problems here, it does not look that big in the picture but it was just over 20mm from the seat to the tank, I could have made new brackets but should not have to on a £400 seat.

Good luck though, the hight level exhaust is a thing of beauty, post up some pictures..

The RSD seat looks good, just a pity you have to faff with it if you go for a tail tidy, or the tron style LED like mine.

Here she is now, Noise Control Valve removed to....sounds ace on the standard cans.
