another great idea

the bolt and those two struts and the rest of the frame, yep, a bastard
I put it all in place and then weight-on-wheels and everything seems to line up then
when the bolt is through, back on the center stand to finish everything.
Remember to torque check every bolt / nut / fastener after wards and after a stead test ride

Cheers guys thanks all for the suggestions.
Not much progress on the bike. . The weather has been bearable so I have had to devote time to some other projects outside
I did get the new bearings for (what I am still calling a "swing arm") and fitted them (despite my manual saying I need special tools) it's tacked on
ffe8ef58ddb92424b413e24c619ee0de.jpg
but it took ages to get the new gaitor in place 😠and the bolt pin things looked a bit tired and in need of paint so I haven't thread locked and torqued. .

Some more advice please

Before j stripped the shocker I should really have put some reference marks on the hose.i had hoped to send the shocker away for re gassing etc but I wanted to re fit it first to ensure the hose is right //uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160807/3e71cf20c188e79

Does it look close?

I didn't have problems lining up the holes as such. But I needed another arm the yoke kept trying to do a guillotine impression and did this

since I now have a bit more painting I decided to pop out the oil level window 😨

This will also need a "blow in"..
Since I am now past the stage of "penny pinching " I need new bearings for this

predictably my local bearing emporium didn't have any. .

I'm very much still interested. I love reading threads like these. :)

I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad to see that there's someone else out there that's as much of a perfectionist as me, though.

You must have been disgusted when the yoke swung down and hit the engine cover. :(

What was your question about the shock and damper adjustment? The correct routing of the hose?

I was disgusted... with myself when the yoke fell , but its been that type of project!

My query was regarding the hose routing, but the suspension has been rebuilt and am expecting it back soon, so hopefully my best guess will be ok.

Cheers guys. Luckily 😨it's been raining all day so I didn't have to feel guilty about spending the afternoon in the garage. . I think I have "turned the corner" today.. the only method I have for reassembly is ... to rummage through a box for a part and if it can be attached clean it and fit it ..usually this involves taking something off that I have previously fitted 😢 but today I am running out of boxes.. 👍
Today I cleaned and painting the front calipers

I had promised myself some "braided " hoses but I am spending way too much so I cleaned all the fittings and pained them

quite why I insist on typing on my phone paying no attention to what is on the screen is also a mystery "heal" "pained" hopefully you get the gist of what I do

Beatiful restoration job!!
A word of warning! There has been some reports and warnings regarding failure to the original brake hoses on 1100/1150 GS after certain time/wear. Somebody who is better at the search function can probably guide you to the correct thread regarding this.

great job, dont ruin it or your self with those old brake hoses. they may look on the outside, but inside can be very different and when pressure is applied, they may bulge and rupture.
Sure, you are spending a lot, but in the grand scheme of it, new braided hoses are only a small % of the overall cost.

You should replace those brake hoses before you ride it. There are plenty of threads about this subject.

I can verify that they bulge split and spray brakefluid everywhere and the braking capability is reduced significantly (and immediately)

I restored a 20 year old R1100RS SE last year, would Strongly recommend you replace the hoses. Good ridge, venhill or a German manufacturer on e bay. In short you want to be able to live to enjoy the fruits of your labour?
Also check the operation/sealing of the front brake master cylinder.
Fantastic build by the way.

Thanks for all the advice. . I agree with you all... I will cost them. I was working on the basis that they appear to be fine and to change them "later" isn't too much trouble. And have been trying to get it on the road before winter. I really need to curb my spending 😢
This little lot cost over £70
bf2034c40f1000042505ed72cfbb912d.jpg

The budget is well and truly blown! I want to put this project to bed I need the space back.. I have lots of other projects that I can't do because the bike is in the way. ... . I am even seriously considering taking the tank etc in to be painted (more cost) purely because I can't spray them in my garage with the bike here😕.. I just need to decide original silver (I think it will be too much silver) graphitan being the sensible alternative. ..or go with my heart and choose mandarin 😃 . .
Either way i guess brakes are more important than paint... even if it delays the completion

Absolutely do the hoses. After doing mine on my 2000 1150, I'd say any 1150 still on OE hoses is a risk. Mine were well gone. I'll be doing my 850 before I start using it again this winter too.
