Armed Police to use F800GS's in response to terrorist attacks in London

Great choice of motorcycle. :thumb

"The guys practise riding off road so they can bump up and down across pavements"

I wonder if they are entitled to a m/c helmet exemption?
But then, whose going to tell them otherwise:)

"The guys practise riding off road so they can bump up and down across pavements"

That is normal London riding on a GS anyway. :D

Would the more road biased F700gs (like mine:D) have been more suited to the role??
Anyway, the F800gs is an exellent choice of bike.:beerjug:

I bet you wouldn't call her a Doris to her face Nutty

There is a Sky News video featuring the bikes which I've posted on the UKGSER Facebook page

If nothing else makes a difference, the 21" front wheel and increased ground clearance certainly will. Pavements, stairs, riding over terrorists etc. all much easier with the 21" front wheel :thumb

Point taken.:D

Don't see any blues or extra " getouttathefuckingway" lights or anything.. Could just be a normal GSer, well apart from the guns etc, but think they might well be carried in a box on the back of the bike........... So......... Hmm could be just another Despatcher.....

Our armed escort in Pakistan had no problems, no blue lights, no helmets even

The Sergeant rode the 125cc, his shotgun rode as pillion, one up the spout and ready for action .... all in flip flops :D

It was a 'Doris' who shot both the killers of Lee Rigby, her two male colleagues didn't fire.

I caught several people in training half out of the car(especially back seat crew) who had not switched modes upon arrival and failed in responding to the threat as a result. All these officers performed incredibly well under dynamic circumstances. I say all for a reason and those familiar with the incident will know that this was a team effort with mutual support.

I listened to a talk by a former Met motorcycle officer who amongst many useful things told us blues and twos can be a nuisance in heavily built up areas causing confusion and panic with other road users who often react badly or move in the wrong direction.

If I saw an armed motorcyclist wearing all that gear, I wouldn't be thinking is that another twat with a "Polite" vest

Interesting that they are all in grey including the bikes

They do not plan to be seen - just blend into the urban background

I don't know why the met police have purchased all this kit and invested time/effort in training.
"Bones" was posting on another thread that the public should "stand up to the attackers".
Fend them of with fists ?
