Wanted another Harley for a while, had a 'garage queen' in the shape of a Road King, had a fatboy, wanted something cheap, plain and simple to get the 'Harley Fix' now and again....

Result... Looking forward to seeing what you are going to do with it!

WTF is it with fitting deathtrap white walls to bikes in this country. I bet the people who sell these bikes on then tell everyone they had a Harley once but the handling was shit :blast

Those tyres are not HD Dunlop's - look like Avon or Continental Whitewalls....

....just getting up off the floor where I've been rolling around in paroxysms of laughter at the comments of the previous two posters. God, they are so witty. :D

However, looks like a great bike for stripping down, keeping simple and "hooning" about on. :thumb2

And I agree with Twizzle, the whitewalls don't look like the OEM Dunlops so may well be perfectly OK.

I'd bet on Avon either Venoms or Cobra....c'mon Smudger who's righty:thumb2

Avon ....

Right, time to play today so did the following...

Got the idiot lights working (all bad connections barring one blown bulb). Removed the heat shields from the exhausts, exhaust is next to be removed as the front pipe is blowing. I'm taking them off and getting them welded. I have ordered some black wrapping for the exhaust, going to leave the Screaming Eagle mufflers on as someone suggested..

Oh, and the tyres are Avon Venoms (well done Richard!!)

Been trawling the net for inspiration like you do, came across this which i quite liked?....

Whatever you do don't get rid of the balance pipe on the downpipes.

I bought a 1200 sporty new in 1989. Great fun. 16,000 miles in the first year

So today i mainly removed the exhaust, i need a new front pipe really, then changed the bars over. The 3rd pic shows the bike with the Buckhorn bars on. I tidied up a bit of wiring then fitted the new brake light switch to the front. I prefer the new bars, and they feel quite comfortable as well...
