Scrapyard dog or Phoenix from the fire?

Mike, when converted my Black GS that Mick Bingham now owns I used metal stubbs between the carb and the head. Don't remember where i got them from as it was more than 10 - 15 years ago. You could knock them up easily on your lathe....!!

There are a few types of dellorto’s
One type clamp onto a stub(r90s)
These use rubbers like the bings, although slightly smaller !
I have some new rubbers and intake hoses coming tommorrow so I can see for certain how it will all fit together.
I may have to do some swapping around on the handle bar controls though,
My original plan was to use a single upper throttle cable and splitter, with the choke lever on the air box,
It may work better with twin throttle cables and a bar mounted choke,
we shall see:blast

Got my clock bracket and headlamp mounts back from powder:cool:
Still waiting for carb rubbers and intakes though, suspect that Xmas post delays are buggering things up:comfort

Chris has had the tank and mudguards for a couple of months,
I guess he got fed up of me procrastinating,
He phoned me Monday, and I agreed to say fuck it,do what you want!!
Looks lovely,he has to put more clear coat on so it only get better.

Lovely....

Stunning,
What colours, and what is it painted with .. ( and yes i know it's paint lol)
Fucked if I know, tunner will come along and tell you at some point,
As much as,d like to be skilled in every thing, unfortunately I’m not,but I’m happy to pay for the very best ,
Tunner and mistacat, are the best I’ve had the fortune to meet..
Cheers lads!

Here's how it's painted......

1. Base coat silver - 3 coats
2. Suspended silver flake - 3 coats
3. HS 2k Lacquer - 2 coats
4. Special sea blue base pearl - 3 coats
5. Blue Grape base pearl airbrush fade
6. CT off white for the BMW Badge
7. CT BMW blue for the BMW badge
8. Lechler 081 black for the BMW badge
9. HS 2k lacquer - 3x coats

I will flat it back and give it another 4x coats of HS 2k lacquer before it goes back to Mike. I have a couple of bits of airbrushing to do on the badges - usual housekeeping ;)

Proper job, well done.

Lots of knowledge and skills being displayed in this thread, top job boys.
Loving it

its going to look stunning is that!

Motivated by tunners progress I thought it a good idea to get some done on the beast today:D
New pushrods, and rocker upgrade along with new rocker shafts,
New adjusters as well ,
And shimmed up to spec
so basically whole new valve train, keerrrrching,
At least it will be nice and quiet,I hate noisy valve gear.
In my enthusiasm I forgot to take a snap prior to fitting covers:blast

Fitted the choke cables as well,a fair amount of faffing to make them work, had to turn down all off the adjuster/ cable seats as the R90 s cables were too short for the rorty 40’s
Also made a start on the throttle cables, the lowers will need to be made from scratch as Bmw never made a dellorto equipped bike with a single pull upper AFAIK
