Planning for two weeks in France in June, unfortunately 4 wheels this time. Been on the bike a few times, Normandy and down the middle / south coast but never been to the west coast.
My plan is to have 1 week for travel / touring about a bit, so will stop in Normandy for a day or two and similar on the way back. Would like to rent something (flat / cottage etc) for the other week as a base and was thinking the west coast? Somewhere south of La Rochelle. Looking at Royan as a possibility, anyone been / stayed there?
Alternative is inland Poitou-Charentes a bit or even Limousin. Basically a nice smallish town with good restaurants etc for a good base for touring the area?

PS. will be going Hull - Zeebrugge easiest for me way up north!!
