Hasn't been run since 1991 but engine turns and has compression.

Needs a full going through, new rubbers, gaskets etc. but it's a UK matching numbers bike.

Going to do it all with my son :) Should be a hoot to ride.

Tank looks ok but supplied key doesn't fit the lock so can't see inside.

Feeling all round the seams from below it seems to be solid but we won't know until I lift it off.

It's May 1985 on 'B' reg. Tax ran out July 1991.

23,000 miles according to the clocks.

This should knock about 10mph off the top speed :)

I've seen this bike before and know Jon, the previous owner. He's a small capacity two stroke type of guy. He also has a biblically high spec'd original mini.

I have his 350 LC in my workshop awaiting recommissioning.

Good luck with the resto, the bike does seem to be all there but does need a lot of bringing round. :thumb

i had one of a simiar age and colour when I was 17 - 18 and loved it. Passed my test and sold it to get a 350LC which was a real disapointment. Wish I still had it. My KTM 390 Duke reminds me of it because it likes to be riden hard, has similar performance and is very light.

Small world - I've known Jon since I was about 3, still best mates today :)

We bought LC's together but he hung on to his and I foolishly sold mine.

Cheers,

Phil

Great little project, ring a ding ding.
When you are flushing out the 2 stroke have a look how to prime the pump since in the early 90s your mate may not have used synthetic and you dont want a gummy mess and a sieze.

One observation, those handlebars looked pretty far gone. I would review their condition after wire brushing them. If in doubt buy replacements. You dont want lofting the front wheely stylie to find it breaks off in your hand!

Well well well small world!

Feel free to drop in for a cuppa with Jon next time he's passing!

Thanks for the 2 stroke tip. New handlebars are about £20 apparently so a no-brainer there.

Cheers,

Phil

A lad worked for me in the early '80's bought a Yam 125. Arranged with a tuning shop to drop it off for de-restricting and tuning on the day of his test if he passed. He did and later told me it would wheelie off the throttle in third and do an indicated 100mph. I just laughed and so he gave me the key and said try it for yourself. Borrowed helmet, ordinary shoes, jeans and an anorak as safety clothes off I went up the Bridport road out of Weymouth. Seemed OK, nothing great, then I hit the magic revs with a big hand full of throttle in second gear............., shiiiiit, grabbed third ohhh shiiiiiiit again, weight forward and rolled back on. F..k me he wasn't exaggerating, it was like a bloody rocket and I weighed half as much again as he did.

Brilliant fun flea weight bike.:D

Had one just like that. Beware of the oil pump, had to rebuild mine twice thanks to that pesky bloody pump. I went everywhere on mine, even went to London on it. Mine would just about show a ton on the clock with a tail wind and ya head buried in the tank.
