I want to get an OptiMATE USB charger to charge my phone off on my Guzzi.

I have the new black rubber style battery connector to plug in my OptiMATE 4 for battery charging at home so want the correct USB plug so I can use my Google maps on my phone whilst on the go on my Guzzi.

Not sure whether I just need this or whether I need this ?

I want to have my iphone in a clear pocket on top of a tank bag and the USB cable attached so I'm thinking the second option above so it can all be within the tank bag and stay waterproof ? But it looks wrong as there appears to be the male USB end and not the female it plugs in to,if that makes sense ?

Try HERE mapping, especially for offline mapping and satnav guidance. I find it better than Google maps.

http://accumate.co.uk/o-102.htm is the maker's site
I don't understand the 1st photo on the Amazon page - it does not match the other photos which show a standard weatherproof socket not the male plug

An SAE lead to accessory socket might be a cheaper alternative as you could have a bog standard car charger that you may already own in the tank bag

Ta,but Maps.me even better.

I have both HERE and MapsMe on phone and tablet. HERE has been far better in use on and off line. Also found Here speed alerts better and accurate and that's saved a lot of hassle in past couple of weeks.

Ok,ta.Good info but still need to get a tank bag too.
Another pic on that site answers my question as I assumes you plugged the USB cable in under the red cap and that's confirmed above !!

Not tried HERE but I've used Mas.me in Chile and it was flawless.

Depending on your phone, none of those will work. They are both 1amp for lots of new phones you need 2.1a or even 2.4 for fast charging.

be careful about cigarette charge sockets they are not designed for moving use on a bike, they are not waterproof and more importantly they are not vibriation proof, the hella plug as used on bmw/ktm etc are much better from a vibration point of view.

you would be better off with somthing like this, http://www.lightinthebox.com/iztoss...itad&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=500822

But you need to look at the output of the unit.

I use one of theses Arsey, plugs right onto the Optimate connector and sits in my tank bag. Has an adaptor for using the old Optimate connector as well. Charges my stuff no problem.

Thanks for the info !!!

Jimmy does it fit the new black optimate plus,as opposed to the old white one ?

I.e. Does it have this

they are a pain in the arse, that is a standard SAE 2 pin 12v DC power connector with a bit of extra rubber, I would bet specificaly designed so that the industry standard stuff does not quite fit despite being almost the same.
Get hold of a standard plug and see if you can make it fit, they are only a pound or two and if you can it would make your life a whole lot easier as there are thousands and thousands of bits out there with SAE connectors on them.

Yes, plugs straight in, the adaptor is for the older optimate plug, I've never used it.

Have you considered any possible iPhone overheating issues whilst using GPS, charging & maybe Bluetooth at the same time in the tank bag on a hot sunny day?
