A Guzzi Convert winter refresh project...

I'll be interested to see how the 'silver leaf' stuff stands up to the elements (and subsequent cleaning?). It give a nice finish :)

Anyway, looking good Ash. Guzzi's rock :thumb2

Andres

It certainly will..
If you know someone in the USA you can get the Rub N Buff for only a couple of $s a tube....
So I ordered 6 & got free US postage to a friends address....
A little tube goes a long way mind....

Took it back to the people that imported the old girl into the UK. ( 2nd piccie )
It was originally was exported to South Africa from Italy until 2007,when it was imported to the UK...

Being a sort of automatic with just low / high gears & a Torque converter that powers the drive is most odd.
Think of it as a 1000 cc moped & you won't be far wrong.
You can use low gear or leave it in high gear. Low gear is just for town / city work..
It's got no neutral so it's always in gear, there is a clutch lever but does not do much really, it's really just for starting up or servicing, we're you would put something around the clutch lever to stop the bike going forward, but open the throttle & it will go forward..
There is a extra brake caliper on the back that works when you put the Sidestand down, sort if like a parking brake.

I'm hoping that by having no gears / clutch it will aid my u/s hands & arms.

Plus I love Guzzi's & had an SP3 before my bad accident in 2003. ( see piccy I'm on the right...)

When I got the old girl, one of the feed pipes to cool the gearbox fluid had blown apart, spewing hot transmission fluid everywhere.
As they no longer make or supply them I was going to have to get a modern version made up.
To replace the " fuel pipe " replacement that was in its place & weeping :(
but luckily for me Cookie had one in his box of bits, so had it fitted...
Many thanks Martin...

Fuel pipe replacement piccy 1 ( jubilee clipped on )
Proper guzzi pipe piccy 2 ( proper crimped ends )

What would the odds of finding a genuine part after 40 yrs + lying on a garage shelf in rural Dorset I wonder ?

"lying on a garage shelf in rural Dorset"

Cant think of a better place to find parts for a ditch pump..

Really made a difference to that Ash. I hope that it was only sweat, paint and cleaning materials!

Other than stainless down pipes it was really was paint, polishing, cleaning & cleaning again, luckily :thumb

That was a great read, you should be proud of the work and the transformation. I really need a guzzi in my life :)
