thinking of acquiring a 2009 K1300GT SE with almost 50K miles, looks very clean and has been well maintained. What should I be looking out for?I haven't seen the service history in person yet. Thanks
Glasses.....they are an ugly bike
I'd get it from a dealer if you can or at least with a full list of BMW dealer stamps in the book. Front ball joints tend to go around 30-40K and also look out for recalls ok the timing chain guard, rear wheel crown bearing and stalling issue. Have a good look at the rear shock as well - the spring is often badly corroded as it's difficult to clean without taking off the exhaust and rear wheel. Also the bottom linkage can go, giving poor tracking at the rear. Swingarm bearings can give up he ghost too
I have to admire your brand loyalty but I would look at the big Kawasaki or the FJ1300 as well + the Triumph.
I did 25k miles on my K1200GT and Sean has the 1200 as well.
Not much difference between the 1200 and 1300.
The K1200GT was fast and handled.
Hated the gearchange and proved impossible to sell.
Good for a genuine 155.
Should have given me a shout. No I don't have the Super Tenere but I am interested in getting one. Had one last year on a tour (ZA, NAM) mixed surface and i was impressed.Seen it in Bray this morning.........looks well.
Do you also have a Tenere ??
