I know they were single disc at launch in 1985, but can anyone recall when the R80RT Mono went to twin front discs?

I thought that it was a cost option.
Hmm possibly. I had it in mind that it was an option initially and went twin after a couple of years, with the unfaired bike sticking with one

They were never fast enough to need two disks.

I think most were retrofitted by owners.

Only if you were used to the brakes on the G/s could you say that they were never fast enough,

I converted mine, you just need the disc and caliper and to make up a pipe between the two, then they work better than the factory twin setup, because the master ratio is better suited

I guess it's fairly academic.

The only reason I'm asking is that with heavy heart it looks like I'm going to have to sell the bike after a fairly brief 28 years, and wondering about details such as the brakes is a good way of putting off the inevitable.

Perhaps I should get on with washing it.
