bike knocked over

as it says my bike was on its centre stand and my my lovely daughters boyfriend has reversed there car into my bike and knocked it over the steering lock was on there doesnt seem to be much damage other than the hand guard has snapped off and the bolt damaged there is a small scuff on the swing arm hardley anything really but when i test rode the bike it looks like the steering isnt true twisted do i go thru the insurance or do the wheel between your legs thing like you do on a pushbike to fix it.

Try loosening the fork clamp bolts the forks could be twisted out of parallel in the clamps.

Don't try to remove the front wheel until you have the forks parallel
also check the handlebars are not bent before you loosen the clamp bolts.
