1982 F2 Z650 Project

Looking good there ringmaster! Looking forward to the build pictures now!

Looking Good

Visit to the engine builders the other day was all positive. He was very impressed with it's condition and in fact he said it showed no signs of wear at all so all good. I am renewing the piston rings and the only thing that needed replacing was the clutch basket that had one of it's internal bolts lugs snapped off. Probably during the renewal of the clutch plates as the plates were in excellent condition. So really pleased that there was no nasty surprises waiting within:beerjug:

So dropped the engine cases off today for Aqua cleaning before painting and also dropped the chrome off for re-chroming:thumb2
Wheels and seat to be sorted in a couple of weeks and then it's nearly time to start putting things back together:bounce1:bounce1

If the pics are the right way that will be down to Ash who told me how. If not then sorry

Nice...had the same swing arm problem with a Guzzi 1200 Sport. Although it was possible to cut through the pivot bolt in two places without damageing the swing arm.

Little update. Cases all back from the Aqua Cleaning process and now ready for painting:thumb

Front Suspension all serviced and polished up. Got the stickers to put on that state "Caution Air Suspension"

Few photos for you to peruse:beerjug:

jeez, thats some quality finish on those cases and the forks can't wait to see the whole bike

That engine looks awesome, keep the piccies coming, can't wait to see the re build. :beerjug:

That brings back memories... My first 'big' bike was a Z650F2.

I bought it new from Powerhouse Motorcycles, Camden Town, London.

KYT 311X, as I remember.

I bought a Kawasaki GT 750, new, from Powerhouse in Kentish Town Rd. in 1984
A771 TUU.
Brilliant bike.

Great resto.
Keep posting !

OK so thought I would just give a quick update on how things are going. I now have a beautifully restored seat. Some shinny chrome. The engine is well on its way to being restored to a better than new condition. The wheels are currently away being sprayed and polished. Carbs have just been sent off for cleaning and polishing and the exhaust is currently going through the cleaning process before re-chroming:thumb

So in a short period of time hopefully I will have everything sorted to start the rebuild:bounce1:bounce1

Exhaust

Picked up the re-chromed exhaust system yesterday. Well happy with the job done and to think it cost me a quarter of the price given by the only other company that I found who would actually undertake the work:thumb2
So I suppose a good example of keep shopping around and persevere:beerjug:

That looks superb. Good luck with the rest of the build, mate. I think you're going to have a rather splendid motorcycle at the end of it
