Hi Folks. Long time reader, first time posting.... I have a 2012 F800GS Triple Black, now with 55000 miles

Having recently come back from Argentina and an epic 16000 Miles from New York to Ushuia and back via Buenos Aires I thought the bike had done well to only suffer a few punctures and a rear brake seizure.
I had been aware of a knocking noise in the final drive in the last few days of the trip which i had put down to knackard chain, but on close inspection last night found shards of metal round the rear spindle, so removed the rear wheel to find this!

I must have ridden 1000+ miles with collapsed bearings which has now destroyed the rear hub.

Before I go to Mr BMW, I've been scouting ebay etc for 2nd hand hubs and have found one for a 2015 F800R which looks identical to the GS hub.

Does anyone know if these are the same parts and interchangeable.

Thanks in advance
Matt

Mine gave up last year after 70kkm, so roughly about the same as yours. I caught it, and had them changed before anything bad happened.

I'm glad that you've sorted a replacement part. Moto Works are a good source of parts both new and secondhand. I have always had top service from them.

What's it like to be home? We got back from Argentina in late February after doing New York to Alaska and then Ushuaia. I do miss the road.......our F800GS did very well especially as it drags a sidecar around with it. A Ural sidecar expertly joined by the lovely people at Watsonian Squire.

Have a look at www.sidecartravels.co.uk if you're interested. Ta.

Had the same happen to me and it took out the rear sprocket carrier. Second hand one sourced from eBay but from a newer model as the sprocket bolts were M10 not M8.

Biggest faff was drilling out the hardened sprocket! Good job the neighbour is a pro at sharpening drill bits!
