Accommodation near Col de Tourmalet - Wanted

Anyone recommend a town to stay within 15 miles or a B&B etc.

What is important though is we are not stuck in middle of nowhere. A village with a restaurant or two and couple of bars within easy walking distance if you please.

Not as near as you'd like - but We've stayed in Argeles Gazost. Middle of the town. "Hotel Des Pyrenees". mid range hotel, for the area. Logis De France - so very good food.
Quirky place / "ok" beds (i'm fussy)- we had a good laugh with the staff.
But there's lots of others in the area. Nice town for a ramble about.
We've been twice - so we must like it / your mileage may vary
Good Luck - i've been up and down that Col 6 times - it is rather good fun - i ground the exhausts on the Guzzi .
