Bent spokes

I performed a classic manoeuvre last week, one I haven't done for probably 15yrs! I pulled away with the friggin chain still still locked into the rear wheel !@#$!

It was ultra low speed, I mean 0.5mph or less kind of speed. I got the bike back onto the stand and promptly removed the chain. A cursory look suggested absolutely no damage.

Yesterday, while servicing the rear caliper, I noticed two spokes with very slight bends in them... They ring with the same sound as the others, to my surprise. No chance to check for true. I'll get a photo over shortly.

My question is, what do people do about this? Should I just ignore it (but keep an eye on it) or should I replace them (which I expect to be a pain knowing how the screws are unlike to behave).

I've never told anyone this but I did exactly that last year. Twice in one week. Mine are quite bent (the spokes that is) but the bike feels smooth so I'm not really worried about it, worse things happen off-road. I'll get them fixed when I send them off for refinishing in the next year or so or sooner if I find £700 down the back of the sofa.

Yep, mine are similar but in two places...

I know it's annoying knowing you have bent spokes but our bikes are so agricultural I really don't think it matters (like my bent tank). You could get it checked for runout if you think it's pulled the rim out of true...
 
I think unless it's showing signs of being badly out of true (I vaguely remember reading somewhere they can be out 3-5mm) or some one tells me otherwise, I'm going to just leave it and keep half an eye on it.

But I'm glad I'm not alone :)
 
I'd just leave it as well. Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, I've done it before, as well.
 
You can replace individual spokes in situ
I wasn't sure, so thanks for confirming. I think I'll only tackle it if the run out has changed or changes as I can see that unscrewing those screws will be a bastard!
 
just happened to be on the phone today to Devon Rim Company (Doug) as I've discovered that my rear wheel has been respoked the wrong way round i.e. the direction arrow is pointing the wrong way (previous owner.....) - Doug was super helpful and suggested that I don't need to have it rebuilt as it will make no difference and is more likely to do with the placement of the valve than anything else. Anyhow he said that it would be about £100 to rebuild the wheel if i wanted to go ahead with it which i thought was not a bad price.
I got onto Devon Rim Co via Wheelwise in Sussex - good reviews about him and he said that BMW rims need specialist equipment that DRC uses - on that note I'd avoid Brickwood rim company as they were the experts who put the wheel together round the wrong way in the first place. If you can't get the basics what hope is there!
 
This is useful info. My first thought was to give the nightmare to Mikeyboy :D. I may still do that! But useful to have these guys on my list.

I think if i was to go to this much trouble, i would renovate the entire hub as well.

Oh, my front wheel also has the rim on the wrong way around (as pointed out to me by the tyre fitter. But i can't see why it would make any difference, so short of a full renovation, i'm leaving it alone!
