Anyone headed for a ride or drive on Highway 1 at Big Sur you better read this. There has been a huge landslide caused by rain which won't be cleared this summer!!

There are some cracking roads inland though and it gives you a great opportunity to see some fabulous country which a lot of people miss.

Hi, Sarge, we discovered this a couple of weeks ago, we got just a bit North of San Simeon and then backtracked and made a huge loop to come down the other way as far down as Carmel. Apparently there are two blockages on this section of the PCH isolating (well, not totally) a huge chunk of road.

Sorry, perhaps I should have mentioned this before.:(

EDIT See www.dot.ca.gov. for road info in California.

Sorry, I ought to correct what I said about getting as far as Carmel, we did in fact get as Big Sur before turning back. The fact is that after 3,500 miles and nearly three weeks the memory banks are overflowing! A brilliant holiday, California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah.
