Hi :)

After a few years grumbling about being charged for a BMW "test ride", I eventually capitulated, bought a K1600 and 2 weeks later added a 2016 GSA LC. I've done 20,000 fantastic km's on it so far, and about to ride from UK to the northern most point of Europe, and down to the bottom of Africa.

Izimvubu is Zulu for The Hippo - IMO a fitting nickname for the bike. In African folklore the hippo has a very special place. It is a very confused animal, not knowing if it wants to be a cow or an elephant, or if it wants to live on land or in the water. It is said to have a very rebellious nature; in fact the Sotho word for it is kubu which also means rebel. It is also regarded as the most dangerous animal in Africa, responsible for more human deaths than any other large animal. So too is the GSA - a little confused if it wants to be a street bike or a dirt bike (though it does both brilliantly), long distance trips by bike are seen by many as rebellious, and if not treated carefully and with respect, the bike can be quite dangerous too.

Here's a virtual beer to all here, and hopefully some of us will turn that into a real beer some day along the road.
Cheers! :beerjug:
