Just got back from 5 days in Ypers town centre, a beautiful place, I've been a number of times and enjoyed everyone of them, if I was there for a day or so I'd opt for a visit to Sanctuary wood (a must) 2-3 hours visit, Hooge crater 2-3 hours, Tyne cot 2 hours, Langemark German cemetery a good hour, Hill 60 2 hours, so easy to fill your time, we had 5 days, nowhere near enough, this time I concentrated on visiting as many graves as possible of soldiers 'shot at dawn' the biggest concentration of these (7, 2 buried side by side) are buried at Perth (China wall) cemetery a couple of miles outside Ypers on the road to Sanctuary wood. Beer is very expensive over there so is food, we drank a beer called 'Duvel' 8.5% @ up to 5 euros for a small beer, which equates to around £9 a pint!! We had to go out early as the weather was unusually hot up to 33c....Mental.
