Just back back from a fab weekend in the company of some UKGSERS

Namely the Bear, Shaun C, steadysteve, Miserable Git and 2-3 other riders

The whole gig was supremely organised and hosted by Chris H - 2gses (big thanks Chris)

It was a Coast to Coast run, from Morecambe to Filey and I've ridden 500 miles, some of the others will have done more

We've had a great weekend of sun, laughs and little known backroads covering about 5 counties

So on with the pics.............the start at Hest Bank, nervous faces

We travelled up the edge of the Lakes, on the tiny gravel and grass strewn backroads - a speciality of Chris's rides, he has a knack of finding some absolute belters that most riders overlook

First stop was a farm, which has a tearoom - Kit Ridding Farm, don't have a clue where we were though

We had a complete mix of bikes - a R80G/S PD, a R80 S/T and up to a GS WC, but by far the oldest was this Matchless 750 Twin and boy could it fly, sounded the mutt's nuts too and 500 miles was a 'walk in the park' to this old girl

We then headed north towards Weardale and Teesdale, lunching at Middleton In Teesdale

Chris - tripmeister, looking at the camera for once

Parked up we spotted these 2 beauties, an original 1972 Guzzi V7 Sport (lush) and a R90S

We thought we were heading to Scotland as we kept threading our way north into Northumbria, before returning south, via County Durham, land of the Prince Bishops

A few pics of yesterday's stunning North Pennines

Getting back to the old Matchless................this was retro touring as good as it gets

Whilst no respectable wannabee RTW Adventurer would be seen without a generous dollop of Klim/Kriega/Ortlieb/Wolfman or Rokstraps on him or his bike

The chap riding this...... just had a carrier bag, an old rucksack and his shoes/cap just held on by the bungees....not even a rack, just strapped to the sturdy rear mudguard hoop

Going back to basics, just like back in the day

Overnight halt was Masham - with a mixture of motorhome for Chris and Phil, tents for ShaunC and steadysteve.............whilst the Bear had a Yurt for 4

He snores, I was told

Me, I stayed at home, nice and comfy

We dined at the King's Head in Masham and here's the Bear, in full attack mode......he was peckish:eek:

Sometimes I wish there was a 'Like' button on UKGSER. Grand pictures JB, and as always a narrative to go with them.

Glad you did and it all went well
Spoke to Chris last night and he was up to Perth
Told him you'd like another one, with more in North Pennines
Leave it with him

Thanks to Chris and JohnnyB for a great weekend. Also thanks to the whole group for some good laughs and excellent riding. The pace was perfect.

The camp was, me and Steadysteve

Thanks again everyone :D

Looks like a great couple of days :thumb

Looks like a good run around, and a decent mixture of bikes.

+1 for all the comments already made. Big thanks to Chris and JB for organising and leading the pack-- cracking roads and scenery, good pace, great bunch of lads, not forgetting the tea and toast at Chris's motorhome both mornings. Thanks again Chris.
That little matchless was a belter and boy could it fly-- off like a rocket and he wasn't afraid to chuck it into the corners. Watching the guy start her up was an education as well-- both hands on the bars, all the guy's weight stood up high on the kickstart and then back down again to turn it over, proper old school stuff and great to see it being used properly. I was behind it a couple of times when it fired up and could feel the exhaust blast from the narrow twin pipes. Will post some more pics later.
