https://inforoute.hautes-alpes.fr/wir3/cols.html says that they have closed the tunnel until next month to add security stuff. There was a collapse a couple of years ago so they re-routed the tunnel, opened it for the ski season and have now closed it to upgrade it.
I will be in the area in the last week of this month and want to do Grenoble-La Grave-Col Du Galibier and then back to Grenoble via the Col de la Croix de Fer.
I understand there is a temporary route on the south side of the Lac but cannot see this road on streetview. I'm happy to go across it on the new Tiger Explorer but companions will be a couple on a Goldwing and a nervous novice on an FZ8.
Has anyone done this alternative route? Do you need to be a rufty tufty adventure rider to ride it?
