I've bought one of these (part SC-AO103) with the intention of powering my Sena hub from the bike.
I intend removing the cigar plug, heat-shrinking any electronics that come out f it and taking 12V from a switched output on my PDM60. I note a warning label at the USB end of the cable saying the output is 12V and not to connect it to anything else other than the Sena.

However, inside the plug body is a tiny pcb with four components. They look like diodes to me and are all identified as 1N4004 MIC. These are all arranged in series, in between the plug centre pin and the 12V wire in the cable.
A bit of research suggests that these might be there to both protect against reverse polarity ( one would do) and provide a voltage drop of typically 0.9V per item.

I'm guessing the intent is to ensure the voltage delivered to the device is at or below 12V but if there are are electronics experts here who can confirm this or advise otherwise I'd be grateful.
