Sgt Blco's USA Coast to Coast 2017

After you get over the Moki and onto the plateau you pick up Hwy 95 towards Glenn Canyon which has to be one of the most scenic roads anywhere. The scenery is vast and unlike Monument Valley where yiu are nowhere near the Buttes, you ride alongside and right past them here. As I ride through here, I can imagine the dinasours plodding around doing there thing and I'm guessing the area hasn't changed much in all those millions of years. One other thing is the road is just about deserted and I don't suppose we saw a handful of cars in 100 miles.

We stop at this fantastic overlook at the swollen Colorado river. Good to see a good amount of water here because usually it's pretty dry. Oh, it's still only 9.00am and we've not had breakfast yet. What a day.....!!!

What a shame about the smudge on your camera! Fantastic scenery - my favourite part of the USA. Bloody criminal that they've stopped you riding around Monument Valley - do you know if it's a permanent decision? I suppose Valley of the Gods is still open...

Not sure Mike but I think they have had some issues with bikes and the sand. Valley of the Gods is still open and MUCH better ride in my opinion.

As you come out of the Glenn Canyon section you ride alongside the buttes and is a fantastic sweeping ride through some stunning scenery. If there is a better ride anywhere on teh planet I'd be very surprised:

Then you pop out for a 50 mile section of very flat but beautiful country.

A friend of mine is in Moab at the moment and it's cold but not too snowy. Hopefully you can get some hiking in.

A quick stop at an overview and a group pic

Before the devils ridgeback (hwy 12) which runs along the top of a small range. This road used to be plagued by tar snakes which are lethal but luckily they have just resurfaced the road and it's and absolute joy to ride. The only issue is whether to look at the scenery or the road. One mistake and it would be the end of a great trip............!!

As we enjoyed the shade out of teh 35 degree heat, the infaous Desert Doctor dropped by. This guy supplies tyres and parts to riders when they are passing through and is available 24/7. Really friendly guy and he's saved many a trip that's for sure. Every time I bring a group through the area, I seem to bump into him.

After the stop it was time to head to the beautiful and stunning Bryce which is about my favourite canyon. The colours are simply stunning.

Then it was off the the hotel to have some home made apple pie and enjoy the sunset. It's hard to believe the last few posts on this thread are one single days ride and it's why it's my favourite days riding on any of my trips. 350 miles of pure motorcycling heaven.

Cracking days riding alright. Although Hanksville was the low point of our trip - smell of cr@p & a plague of flies around the motel while the vegetablists with us got packet mashed potato & microwaved frozen veg as their dinner. Probably serves them right :D

I'd love to ride the newly surfaced 12 as it used to be tar snake hell :bounce1
