I've just been on the Guzzi forum reading about oil. Is it mean't to be that complex.
37 years ago I used 10/40 mineral but now everyone seems to have a view and it even gets technical.
Simply do you use 10/40 or 20/50 mineral, semi or fully synthetic.
On a 27 year old engine I thought even cooking oil would do.
Cheers

My 1982 850cc lemans ran on 20/50 mineral oil

My 2009 1200cc sport runs on fully synthetic 10/60

Easy really:rolleyes:

Guzzi oil

The earlier guzzi were designed to run on the oil of the time. In particular oil with I think the additive is called moly something or other, it was needed to keep things like cam follower protected - especially at start up. modern oils do not have this additive as it buggers catalysts. Castrol GTX used to be the stuff to use but the formula for that has changed over the years. Opie oils web site has some info, I use Halfords classic oil in my 1998 1100i Cali.

i would never use a 10/40 in a guzzi
15/50 in small blocks
20/50 or my preference is TRM 20/60 in big blocks
10/60 in 8v engines .

Silkoene Classic 20/50 at Demon Tweeks so that's me sorted.
Thanks

Good to see you're sorted :)

FWIW this is what I use (picture nicked off Gutsibits web shop)
