As i have just done a speed awareness course i phoned my bike/car insurance and they both said no need to declare as there has been no prosecution, could this come back and bite me in the arse at renewal time?

It is not a conviction and it is not recorded on the dvla database (it will be on the local police forces computer ) so it means it is not accessible to the insurance companies.

Some companies when I was getting quotes a couple of weeks ago, were asking for speed awareness courses specifically. In that case you have to declare. Others asked for convictions, in which case you don't.

As a footnote, it will be on a National Police database so the days of doing the same course here, there and everywhere due to the 42 separate Forces should be in the past.
