Here we go again - SP3 makeover - freshen up.

Now upgraded to -
35W 6000K HID EXON bulb kit, wired through a relay so that it doesn't melt the old wiring or switches.

It's kind of reassuring to see your standard light was as dim as mine is.
Though I've a 'blue tint' bulb that supposedly improves night vision with less watts :blagblah .
Yeah sure  ~ with the tint it just looks pink and dim / not bright and blueish :blast .
Apparently the standard light is the same as a Fiat Bambino! :eek
Well - it was on mine, now it's a standard Toyota Hiace :D with a 'custom made' surround. Custom made from a plastic chair back, with fret saw and files.
Like yourself, I'd like to improve mine but am not keen to go the HID route - wish i knew of an LED set up that I'd trust.

Loving this thread Ash. Every post you put up is a kick in the arse for me - fully 'able' and yet not getting half the work done that YOU do. :clap
Fair play Friend.
Love your work dahling :kissy2

I'm also awaiting a good cost effective LED headlight bulb / system.
Ain't found one yet mind...

Don't forget Og I have 24/7 of endless boredom everyday other than my many doctors / hospital visits " I'm free " ( sadly ).

No longer have a partner or direct family ( sadly again ).

So i can please myself, I don't tend to go to the garage mornings as my busted body doesn't like it, so I work later. Everything takes me twice if not longer than anybody especially now I have no wrists ( again sadly ) ( fecking annoying mind ).
As does having a garage with no mains power or watter.

This is more like therapy to me than work & does my soul no end of good. And I'm sure does my body good in terms of moving & finding ways to do things.

But I would sooner have a normal life ( whatever normal is ) .... :nenau

Now starting to look for my next project ;)

A nasty blowout that.
The top box bracketry looks dodgy to me, not triangulated enough. Could you re-position it closer to the grabrail? and give to another couple of brackets.
Some say LED rear brake bulbs are not recomended.

There is an unseen bracket, fastened tender the grab rail on your the rear frame. ( plastic grab rail at that )

Had and got LED rear lights on my GS's for years Pat.
Much brighter in the dark & importantly with these old bikes far less power draw

Finally for today....

Gold Hill Shaftesbury Dorset

Gold Hill is a steep cobbled street in the town of Shaftesbury in the English county of Dorset.

It is famous for its picturesque appearance; the view looking down from the top of the street has been described as "one of the most romantic sights in England."

The image of this view appears on the covers of many books about Dorset and rural England, as well as on countless chocolate boxes and calendars.

Gold Hill has also been used as a setting for film and television. It appears in the 1967 film version of Thomas Hardy's Far From the Madding Crowd.

The street is the main setting for the 1973 "Boy on Bike" television advertisement for Hovis bread, which has been voted Britain's favourite advertisement of all time.

Bloody great improvement, I can now see at night.

Left leaving West Bay until late yesterday to try out the new HID headlight system...

Another bonus by going totally LED & HID with the front & rear lights is that the amp meter does not drop to 12 volts like it did with standard front & rear lights.

So win win...

Can't understand why you didn't get a picture of you pushing your bike up that hill :green gri It would have made front page at least.

Have a great time in Italy.

Ronnie Barker spoof version, on reaching the top of the hill - "grandad always said it were a bloody long way to go for a loaf of bread"

Can't imagine an able bodied geezer humping an SP3 with its full fairing up any hill, let alone Gold hill. :tears

I always think the lad that rode the butchers / bakers bike down the hill in the advert was fecking nuts.....

Fecking top box / rear rack, just wasn't reet. ( doing my tits in )
I wasn't happy with the rack mounting to bike & I was even less happy with how far the top box sat in the rack due to the way it locks to the hepco rear rack.
I could of took the hepco rack off & all mounting points under the top box & hard mount to rack / bike...
Feck that me thinks as I want it to mount to the 700GS as well..

Brain wave last night -
" another top box " that mounts farther forward. eBay came to the rescue & 26 miles away. I offer 20 collected & hay presto ( picture 1).
(seller left it in his back garden for me ) with locking mount & 2 keys.

Pictures 2 / 3 hepco box & rack.
( as was )....

Might get a new rack made, but if it works OK then maybe not..

A most odd rack & the way it mounted, but it came with the bike & time us against me at this point.

Mandello del Lario next week..

Trouble is with the rear end, is Guzzi never designed it to have a top box & the rear end is 99% plastic.

As in the brochure piccy below.
