Hi everyone in need of some help, how to remove battery case on a 2001 R1150gs. Bike in bits as rear frame and other parts are being re powder coated but cannot get off battery cover ( what the battery sits in )

Any help would really be appreciated. :thumby:

The battery tray should have x4 nuts securing it with rubber mounts underneath the tray itself. Although the throttle cable housing is also attached to the underside of it if I remember correctly. Plus of course ABS pump and the bikes computer module thing

yes have un done the nuts and rubber mounts how to get throttle cable housing off as have tried most thigs and cannot free the battery case.

You will need to disconnect the throttle/fast idle cables and remove the throttle cable box from underneath the tray first. There are videos on Youtube on how to do this.
Hope the following link works https://youtu.be/ybHjEbUa2NA
You need to insert a blade into the gap underneath the the throttlecable box and depress the tang that holds the box in place. It slides out from the off-side.
Check the condition of the 4 rubber mounting bobbins - If these fail the box can end up rubbing against the loom. You can get replacements from places such as https://www.vibration-mounts.co.uk/ which are far cheaper than BMW parts. If the battery holder is badly corroded and needs replacement check out BMW prices as they are not much dearer than buying second hand off ebay. It's a bit of a labour intensive job but not that difficult. Hope this helps.
PS make sure the cables are seated correctly when refitting..........

The housing that sits under the battery tray for the throttle cable (can't remember what it's called), comes out from the right hand side of the bike. But as mentioned, I think only with cables disconnected at the throttle bodies end. Do take note of where the cables actually run maybe take digital pics before removing completely.
