Hey guys a little help for a complete newb please, I got my GS1200 2 weeks ago, joined the forum here to participate and help as much as I can as living in Germany, I also have a quick question if anyone can help, save me a trip to BMW dealer in Freiberg, I rolled my bike off the centerstand in the garage and heard a noise on the floor, looked down and seen what looks like some sort of small metall cable clip, I have searched through all the parts on BMW website but cannot see this part, and idea where it comes from, and is it complicated to put back on, I have posted 2 pictures of the clip, my bike is a GS1200 Exclusive 2017 LC, many thanks in advance.

That doesn't look like part of the bike, it looks like a clip from a socket rail.
Do you have tools in your garage? It might have been on the floor and pinged when the bike hit it.

Man you are a genius, I had my socket set out so it must have gotten under the front wheel and I did not see it, so when I rolled it off the centerstand it must have leaped out from under the wheel, cheers for that, do I feel like a lemon now.

Lemon - yep. :)

Mind you, I was working on my Land Rover yesterday and found a 6"/150mm socket extension bar inside the headlight box (recess) under the bonnet. Another lemon. :)

I found snap-on inspection led light underneath tank, after gsa had just been serviced by main dealer.

Claimed it had nothing to do with them, shame it had mechanic's name one it.

and so you should....the socket clips are stainless steel and would react with the magnesium / aluminium alloys that BMW like to use ergo...they would not use s/s TUT TUT. Go and sit on the seat in the corner and put on the pointy hat with a big D on it.

Buggar, I've just been searching the TT website 'cos I just had to have some of those on my bike - then I saw it was an LC......

Man there is not a big enough corner or a big enough hat to fit, the way I feel now, lol, like I said complete newbie to 1200GS, but Harleys I know every little nut and bolt.

I don't think the OP is that big a lemon.
He managed to post two pictures. That's better than I've ever done.

Cheers Peter it was just a panic moment, new 1200GS and cling on the floor well panic set in, as I could not locate the part in the BMW parts website, well Lemonhead is happier now, as for pictures quite easy, just upload them to this website link posted below, then copy the link from the image website, then click on insert image, paste the link in the area provided, and all should be good.
