Has anyone any experience of using a Sergeant Seat.

I ride an F700GS and find the seat most uncomfortable even after a short ride. I am now using the BMW Comfort Seat and friends have suggested that I change this for a Sergeant Seat. I understand that the same model fits both the F 700 GS and the F800GS.

Any advice and comments will be gratefully received.

I've got the Sargent touring seat and it's better than any of the standard BMW seats, including the comfort seat (too soft and not enough space to shift back and forth). Having had it now for just under a year it is starting to annoy me as it slopes towards the front - nowhere near as bad as any of the bench seats and you don't slide around but numb tailbone and backside after about an hour. The other issue is that in order to make the seat wide the shoulders are very steep - I like to sit back on the seat and find these dig into my thighs. I'm even considering getting the seat re-profiled (or looking for a standard seat and getting that done instead) to get the seating area flat rather than sloped. All in all not bad but a bit disappointing - especially at the thick end of £400. Then again both the Wunderlich and Touratech seats seem to have a similar slope and cost about the same. So, I'll keep it for commuting but still on the lookout for a K1300GT as that is the most comfortable bike I've tried (hint: flat seat!)

I have the sergeant seat on the 800 far better than the BMW offerings but not perfect I find the top of my legs get sore after a few full days of touring.

What to do to improve on it is anyone's guess

For a lot less money I'd recommend finding an auto upholstery specialist within sensible driving distance. I've got a Tony Archer seat on my 800, best thing I ever bought for the bike!

Very subjective things seats. What works for me might not work for others.

I bought a Sargent for my 12GS which was brilliant, but I was lucky enough to be able to try out a mates Sargent for a long day to see if it was for me or not.

I had another bikes seat re-done by Tony Archer which was a waste of money as it was no different than before.

I've just ordered a new Sargent for my Africa Twin. Taking a chance that it will be as good as the one I bought for my GS....time will tell.

Pretty Good

I have the Sargeant seat on my 800GS, I have a 30" inside leg and I also have Fastway slightly lower footpegs. I have just returned from a three day weekend ride which included 6 hrs 255 mile transit with 20 minute stop on day 1, 170 mile ride-out over 8 hours on day 2 and a 255 mile transit home on day 3. I was still able to walk without any pain on returning home and didn't have any moments where I thought I had to get off! There is probably no one "perfect" seat for everybody.......

Agreed.
Had a Sargent seat on my 1150GS and it was perfect - flat and you could move around on it easily.
Have one on the 800GS now and while it is very comfortable, the slope is annoying.
May look at modifying it.

By the way, are there two different versions of the 800GS Sargent seat - World Performance and World Sport ??
Or did I imagine this ?
