Hi there,

I'm in the market for a new tent and I am keen on the SoulPad 3000 ultralite, but I'm concerned it's too large and heavy to strap to the top of my top box and carry a pillion.

Do you folks reckon this would be OK or do I need to be more realistic? Packed size is 82cm x 26cm x 26cm, and it weighs 10.5kg.

Cheers!
Alex

How the frick can a 10.5Kg tent call itself 'Ultralite' ???
Its not really suitable for carrying on a bike.
No way I would put 10Kg on top of my topbox.

There are plenty of lighter options available.
The Kyham Highlander is a good size tent and weighs half that and I still wouldn't want it on top of my top box.
If you're two-up, you need to make compromises.
Look for a lightweight tent around the 2-5Kg mark, that will pack down small. Ideally something that will fit in or on a pannier.
Keep the weight as low as you can.

I too would not put 10.5kg. on a top box.

Suggestion; other than putting it in a pannier ditch the top box (if poss) find a lighter
tent (mines about 8kg.) and put it where the top box goes. This way you have less weight and are keeping it lower down.

try this.

Good quality, doesnt leak and only 5 kilos.

ive got a stelvio (sort of similar but no longer made)and carry it on the bike no problem.
