Posted for info for my 5 passes trip before travelling for information which I duly received many thanks to all
Set off on a dry Sunday run to Ashford via a brunch stop at a mates in Doncaster for Brunch. He's had his GSA from new and has nearly 80k miles on (all done touring in Europe mostly).
Next stop Premier Inn for the night and meet up with couple of mates who are joining me. Tunnel in the morning and onto Saint Die in the vosges region where we are stopping for the night. Biblical rain for mist of the journey did not dampen our spirits and the recently fitted Avon Trailriders were a very welcome addition. God love them tyres!!
Onto the "Route de cretes" the following morning is dry but foggy so miss all the sights
Press on to Abdolen in Switzerland where we have a chalet for a few days and all is good. Expensive as it is for food and drink we opt for a carry out and cook our own food
Right onto the Susten, furka and grimsel passes after breakfast and weather pants and 4 degrees at top of susten means not a lot of photo opportunities
Next day turns out nice so decide to take a train through a mountain as you do and head over to the old Tremelo pass ( cobbled one) then revisit susten on way back to chalet and what a difference a day makes with temperatures into the mid 20's and a chance to wear my mesh textile jacket! !
Last day with my mates so we head our separate ways and myself to Il De Re on the French coast to meet up with the family for a weeks holiday, then home via the tunnel and back to a chilly UK. Mileage was just shy of 3k and the GSA performed as she should do. Overall a very good trip and put me right after a very busy year.
